Welcome to Sonneberg Neufang Zoo

A worthwhile destination for the whole family in all seasons is the beautifully situated zoo in the district of Neufang, which is connected to the Sonneberg hiking trail network. Children are especially attracted to the petting enclosure with the curious goats and the new playground, but there is also a lot to learn about the individual animal species. Around 100 animals of 35 species are kept on the 3-hectare site: Fallow and roe deer, ponies, pot-bellied pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, snowy owls, chickens.... Rare breeds of domestic animals threatened with extinction, such as Thuringian forest donkeys, can also be observed in the zoo. Llamas "Maya" and "Fanny" have been living in the zoo for several years. They are well on their way to becoming public favorites. Recently, a meerkat enclosure has been offering visitors interesting and exciting insights into the lives of these animals. Anyone who would like to can take on a sponsorship for (their) favorite animal.
