Welcome to Hundshaupten Wildlife Park

On a circular hike through the Hundshaupten Wildlife Park near Egloffstein, you will stroll past dwarf goats, alpacas, raccoons and many other wild animals. You hike along a stream through the rocky scenery past tall beeches, spruces and maples and climb a few meters in altitude. Wonderful views of the nearby mountain castle and the landscape of the Trubach Valley will make you forget the effort of the climb.

The Hundshaupten Wildlife Park is a popular destination for families in particular. Open all year round, you can observe almost 40 native animal species on a short hike through the spacious grounds. Parents can enjoy good Franconian cuisine in the restaurant area while the children play with the goats within sight or have fun in the playground.

"Experience nature and animals...", the focus is on the interaction between animals, nature and people. Visitors should be as close to the animals as possible and become enthusiastic about the local flora and fauna, as well as the special landscape features of Franconian Switzerland.

The Hundshaupten Wildlife Park near Egloffstein in Franconian Switzerland covers an area of 40 hectares, 36 of which are woodland. The Hüllergraben flows through the park, which has been dammed into ponds at various points. From some of the striking viewing rocks, you have a fantastic view of the landscape of Franconian Switzerland and Hundshaupten Castle. The selection of animals in the wildlife park focuses on native wild animals, neozoa and endangered livestock breeds. Elk, lynx, raccoons and wolves live among the steep slopes of the white and brown Jura mountains. The animals can be observed at close range in spacious and naturally designed enclosures. Many wild animal species at Hundshaupten Wildlife Park particularly enjoy the special characteristics of the terrain with its steep rocky slopes, such as the mouflon, ibex and chamois. These climbing artists live here almost as they would in their original habitat, the rocky mountains. There are three different circular trails of varying lengths in the wildlife park. Centrally located at the entrance area, our playground offers fun for the little ones, where they can climb, slide and swing.

Individual guided tours, where you can take a look behind the scenes of the wildlife park and learn all kinds of exciting and interesting facts about the park's animals, are popular with young and old. There is a very special attraction for children. They can celebrate their birthday at Hundshaupten Wildlife Park and try their hand at being a treasure hunter, nature detective, forest Indian or animal keeper, among other things.

See, hear, feel, smell - in the Green Classroom you are right in the middle of our native animal world. Exciting animal encounters, playful elements and interdisciplinary topics make the lessons an exciting experience. School classes and groups can choose from a variety of programs.
